Back to 2018, Mekong Seafood Connection (MEKSEA) was very honored to have over 120 visitors from more than 40 markets worldwide with 9 exporting contracts worth 1.25 million US dollars signed during the 3 days at the expo. This is really a very encouraging result for Meksea’s family, as well as being an evident proof of the company’s popularity on the global market.
Up to now, Vietnam has got 16 trade agreements (FTAs) have been signed enforced and under negotiation. Of these, 10 FTAs have been implemented, including 6 agreements implemented as members of ASEAN and 4 bilateral agreements with Japan, South Korea, Chile, Euro Economic Union (EEC), and with economic zones such as AFTA, EVFTA, CPTPP, AANZFTA, ACFTA, AKFTA, EFTA FTA, RCEP. Especially with EVFTA which soon coming into effect, EU commits to abolish tariffs for goods with 85.6% of tariff lines, equivalent to 70.3% of Vietnam’s export turnover to the EU. It will be a big advantage to promote business partnership between EU and Vietnam.
With the aim of getting back the “green card”, Vietnam has made enormous efforts to implement recommendations of the EU by taking drastic actions to prevent and combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
